WHAT IS CROSSFEED

Crossfeed technology simulates the acoustic experience of listening to speakers in a room.

When using headphones, each ear only hears its respective channel, creating an unnatural "in your head" sound.

Crossfeed blends a controlled amount of each channel into the opposite ear, creating a more natural, speaker-like listening experience while preserving stereo width and detail.

This results in reduced listening fatigue, natural stereo imaging and enhanced spatial awareness.

VERSION 2
WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 2

Crossfeed grew from a simple crossfeed utility into a full listening-and-analysis plugin — with deeper metering, pop-out graphs, oversampling, presets, and more formats. Still free.

Compliant Loudness Metering

Track compliant loudness on the input, the output, and the delta between them — so you always know how much you’re changing the signal.

Spectrogram

A full spectrogram joins the analysis suite for detailed time-and-frequency insight into your sound.

Pop-Out Analyzer Windows

Graphing is no longer embedded-only — open the FFT, scopes, and meters as their own dedicated windows.

Optimized Graphing

A more efficient graphing engine keeps all of the new visualization light on your CPU.

Exposed Oversampling

Choose the operating rate yourself: Off, 176/192, or 352/384 kHz for higher-rate processing.

Preset Management

A built-in preset library with factory starting points you can recall and build from.

Now in AU & AAX

Added Audio Unit and AAX support — Crossfeed runs as Standalone, AU, AUv3, VST3, and AAX.

MODERN CONTROLS WITH CLASSIC SOUND

Crossfeed goes beyond standard implementation with precise controls and flexible processing.

Width and Focus controls lets you fine-tune the stereo image width from centered to enhanced stereo.

The Wet/Dry mix allows blending between processed and unprocessed signal to find the perfect balance for your material.

Two processing approaches: Modern mode provides a refreshed take on the classic, while Direct mode offers traditional crossfeed for more pronounced effects.

Crossfeed provides unique visualization tools that let you see your audio in real-time. These visualizations help you understand the spatial characteristics of your mix and make more informed mixing decisions.

The Lissajous Vectorscope monitors stereo field relationships between left and right channels. This tool is particularly useful for identifying phase correlation issues and ensuring proper stereo balance in your mix.

The Polar Sample View visualizes instantaneous stereo information in polar coordinates. This visualization helps you spot momentary phase cancellations and understand the dynamic movement of audio in the stereo field.

The Polar Level Display shows energy distribution across the stereo field. This tool is invaluable for monitoring the overall stereo width and balance of your mix over time.

The FFT Spectrum Analysis allows you to analyze frequency content with multiple viewing modes. This detailed frequency visualization helps identify problematic frequency buildups and ensures spectral balance across your mix.

The Spectrogram maps frequency content over time, revealing how energy moves through your mix from moment to moment. This time-and-frequency view makes it easy to spot resonances, sustained tones, and shifting spectral balance that a static analyzer can miss.

The Loudness Meters track perceived level on the input, the output, and the delta between them. This gives you a clear reference for how much Crossfeed is changing your signal and helps keep your levels consistent.

Every analyzer can pop out into its own standalone window — the spectrogram, FFT, vectorscope, polar sample, polar level, and waveform views. Detach the ones you rely on, spread them across your screen, and build the exact monitoring workspace you want while you mix.

These visual tools help identify phase issues, understand stereo width characteristics, and make informed decisions based on both visual and auditory feedback. The combination of all these visualizations creates a comprehensive toolkit for achieving professional-quality stereo imaging.

DOWNLOADS

Version V0.9.6

macOS includes Standalone, AU, AUv3, VST3, and AAX. Windows includes Standalone, VST3, and AAX.

Mac AUv2 Plugin

Optional Version V0.9.6

The standard installer above already includes the current macOS plugin formats listed in Technical Specs. Install an AUv2 build below only if your host application specifically requires AUv2 — for example, SoundSource by Rogue Amoeba.

Important: macOS allows only one Audio Unit version of Crossfeed on a system at a time. Installing the AUv2 plugin will replace any existing AUv3 install of Crossfeed, and vice versa. The standalone app and VST3 plugin are unaffected.
