Hearing correction or sound personalization is a question we ask often, and you will find both terms in our writing. We see a need for both.

Sound Personalization

Sound personalization is a broad term. It could encompass anything and everything you do to alter the sound of audio before it reaches your ears. That includes a bass boost, a genre preset, crossfeed, headphone correction, and the more defined term hearing correction.

Hearing Correction

Hearing correction is the more specific process of using hearing test data to achieve a desired response. You may think of it in the same terms as room correction and headphone correction. Room correction measures a room. Headphone correction measures a transducer. Hearing correction measures the listener. It is a part of the larger class of sound personalization.
